Laura Hoexter Speaks to the Tax Challenges for Same-Sex Couples

Pride Foundation and Lambda Legal co-hosted an information session entitled “The IRS Meets Community Property” to address the recent tax developments affecting same-sex couples in Washington.

One year after the IRS announced its new position on reporting community property income earned by same-sex couples in Washington State, many taxpayers are still confused and looking for guidance. On the heels of the massive success of last year’s discussion at Seattle’s Town Hall, Helsell Fetterman continues to demonstrate its commitment to the community by participating in the 2012 Town Hall discussion to help taxpayers understand these difficult rules.

The expert panel consisted of three speakers:
  • Laura Hoexter, Esq.
Estate Planning Attorney — Helsell Fetterman, LLP
  • Jordan Heitzman
Certified Public Accountant — Rainy City CPA
  • Judi O’Kelley, Esq.
Deputy Director of Development — Lambda Legal
