Attorney Brings Over Two Decades of Real Estate and Land Use Experience

Michael Spence has joined Helsell Fetterman. With over 25 years of experience in real estate and land use law, Mike brings expertise in both commercial and residential transactions, zoning and land use, code enforcement, environmental regulations, sales and leasing transactions, and government relations. He has also worked on all phases of the entity lifecycle: formation, maintenance and dissolution.

Mike was previously a founding, named partner at Harrison, Benis & Spence in Seattle and served as the Government Affairs Director for the Seattle-King County Realtors. Mike has a strong background in land use planning and title insurance as well, having worked at a planning firm in Wisconsin for several years before earning his J.D.

A certified real estate license law instructor, Mike has taught hundreds of seminars throughout the state for organizations such as Washington Realtors and brokerages such as Windermere. In both King and Kitsap Counties, Mike serves as a court-appointed mediator and arbitrator. He is also currently President of the Bainbridge Island School Board.
