Helsell Fetterman Welcomes Jessica Tsao

Firm’s Business and Real Estate Practice Groups Expanded with New Associate

Jessica Tsao has joined Helsell Fetterman as an associate in the firm’s Business and Real Estate practice groups. Jessica advises businesses and business owners on all manner of transactions from formation through merger/acquisition, and assists clients with the ongoing administration of their companies by negotiating and documenting operational agreements and loan transactions.

A Washington native, Jessica graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, cum laude, in 2004.  Following graduation, Jessica relocated to Portland, Oregon, where she designed high-voltage transmission lines for PacifiCorp, an investor-owned electric utility. Despite a successful career as an engineer, Jessica decided to explore a new path when she returned to Seattle in 2007, and began working as a litigation paralegal at the law firm of Barrett & Worden, P.S.  That experience inspired Jessica to pursue a career in law, and in 2008, she enrolled at the University of Washington School of Law.

At the University of Washington School of Law, Jessica earned CALI Awards for Excellence in the study of both Secured Transactions and Publicly Held Corporations.  She earned her J.D., with Honors, in June 2011, and was named to the Order of the Coif.  Prior to joining Helsell Fetterman, Jessica was an associate at Cairncross & Hempelmann, P.S., where her practice emphasized asset-based financing, creditors’ rights, and related transactional and litigation work.

In addition to her law practice, Jessica serves as the Vice President and a board member of the Asian Bar Association of Washington.  She also volunteers with the King County Bar Association’s Southeast Neighborhood Legal Clinic, and is a member of the William L. Dwyer Chapter of the American Inns of Court.
