Helsell Fetterman Hosts the International Association of Privacy Professionals

Last night, Helsell Fetterman hosted the International Association of Privacy Professionals Seattle KnowledgeNet chapter meeting “We’re Thankful: Positive Developments in Privacy.” Seattle IAPP Co-Chair James Bush moderated the panel, discussing positive developments in privacy law with panelists Susan Wright Geiger, Rowin Rowin, and Smitha Gundavajhala.

The panel showcased complementary perspectives on the growing ecosystem of privacy law, including early-stage and middle-market companies, consulting firms, and consumers. Susan shared that both early-stage and middle-market companies are well-positioned to take on privacy compliance in different ways. Rowin discussed governance as currency, and in particular, the idea that having a well-developed privacy program helps position companies to garner consumer trust. Smitha talked about consumer utilization of privacy protections as a positive signal of growing consumer agency.

Helsell Fetterman thanks IAPP, the Seattle KnowledgeNet co-chairs and everyone in attendance last night for the opportunity to host this event, and to be in community with an incredible network of privacy professionals.
