Commission Reports on Enhancing Accountability of Religious Organizations

By /

The Commission on Accountability and Policy for Religious Organizations issued its first, 94-page, report to Sen. Charles Grassley. Enhancing Accountability for the Religious and Broader Nonprofit Sectors summarizes and provides recommendations on donations, IRS practices, and compensation issues for clergy. The report essentially rejects the need for new laws or regulations to increase accountability of religious organizations to the federal government.

The attorneys at Helsell Fetterman keep a close eye on these developments in order to provide the best informed advice to our nonprofits and faith community clients.  To learn more about this or related topic please don’t hesitate to contact us.
