Professional Experience

Ray is an associate at Helsell Fetterman, where his practice focuses on civil litigation, land use, and real estate matters. He first joined the firm as a Richard S. White Fellow and returned after earning his J.D., with honors, from the University of Washington School of Law.

During law school, Ray served as an editor on the Washington Law Review, worked in the Civil Rights and Justice Clinic, where he represented plaintiffs in civil rights lawsuits before trial and appellate courts across the country, and externed for the Honorable Brad Maxa at Division II of the Washington Court of Appeals.

Ray was also Vice President of National Teams for the Moot Court Honor Board, and a regional champion and national semifinalist in the New York City Bar Association Moot Court Competition, where his team was awarded Best Brief at both the regional and national levels. Ray was inducted into the Order of the Barristers for his excellence in trial advocacy.

Originally from Puyallup, Washington, Ray is a proud “Double Dawg,” having obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington, Magna Cum Laude. Outside of the practice of law, Ray enjoys playing pickleball, lifting moderately heavy weights, and cheering on the Seahawks and Mariners.
