Professional Experience

Dave Corey is a trial attorney who exclusively defends physicians and hospitals against medical malpractice lawsuits and professional licensing proceedings. Dave has tried 26 medical malpractice jury trials, in addition to five other civil trials, six arbitrations, and numerous administrative hearings. Dave has won jury trials for clients in neurosurgery, emergency medicine, psychiatry, general surgery, vascular surgery, interventional radiology, medical oncology, gastroenterology, nephrology, podiatry, and orthopedic surgery. Dave has also won jury trials involving nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, nurses and technologists—as well as many hospitals and clinics. Dave has also won arbitrations on behalf of clients in urology, anesthesiology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and occupational medicine.

Dave frequently represents physicians in licensing proceedings before the Washington Medical Commission. Prior to private practice, Dave was a criminal prosecutor where he tried approximately 65 criminal cases.

Dave is animated by a passion for mentoring the next generation of trial attorneys. For many years, he has volunteered for the executive committee of the Washington chapter of ABOTA—the American Board of Trial Advocates—an invitation-only organization of trial lawyers and judges dedicated to the preservation of the Seventh Amendment, the promotion of professionalism and civility in the bar, and the protection of judicial independence. Dave is currently President-Elect of ABOTA’s Washington chapter.

At the University of Denver, Dave was a captain of the varsity swim team and a 1990 NAIA All-American selection. In the years since, Dave has been involved in swim team coaching, competitive masters swimming, and competitive open water swimming. A Seattle native, Dave and his family are proud residents of Ballard, where he has served on the board of his children’s school.
